Onward

We've been in *OUR* house (doesn't that sound awesome?!) since the first weekend in May. What a whirlwind those first few weeks were. The move was the best thing we could have done but it was also definitely a change for the 4 of us.

We're slowly checking off items on our to do list. It's funny, every time I see someone the question I get asked is "How's the house?" I don't know why, but it kind of irks me. Our house is wonderful, its ours! We have this wonderful home that we are making our own and I couldn't be happier with the decision we made!

After I gave up, Rob came to the rescue and made a little garden happen for us. We were able to plant several cucumber plants, 3 tomato plants, 2 jalapeƱos, an eggplant and some snap peas and green beans. The cucumbers, green beans and jalapeƱos are kicking butt!

Look at all of these cucumber plants!!! Its about to be pickle time!!!!

I also scored some herbs that I planted in pots--my favorite is the lavender! I have been able to harvest lavender from the plants already so I am super pumped to use the dried flowers for something soon!

Last brag I have to post...blueberry picking season is upon us. Last week, I picked some blueberries and made a pie yesterday for my favorite. It came out absolutely wonderful!

Now off to retackle the craft room (Rob calls it the crap room that's how bad it is). I swear I am not a hoarder...but this room is proving to be a challenge! It is just filled with stuff! Purging and finding a happy place for everything...I'd like to be done by bedtime...let's see how that goes!

The Final Countdown

2 days, 14 hours and some minutes...and it's house time. I'm waiting for something to pop up. It has to. When it happens we will deal with it...Rob will deal while I panic. In the meantime, I plan.

I love to come up with plans. Like I said before, it's at the follow through that I lose sight of my vision.

I have crazy decorating ideas stashed up my sleeve. My Pinterest account is growing further out of control than it already was. To kind of tame myself, I entertained myself by making (and finishing) my first "quilt!" It's really just a blankie, but I think it came out kinda OK! A sweet co-worker is due to have her third child, a little boy, in a few weeks so I wanted to make her something. I always get super self-conscious when making gifts. Since I literally *just* learned to use a sewing machine, and I generally spend more time making a mess of it than anything else. It is so far from perfect, but it's the thought that counts right?! Here it is...you can't see the multiple hemming stitches from trying to attach the border, but I can remember the anxiety it brought on!

Now, on to my next project. Lined grommet curtains for our MBR. Totally scary, but I can do it! Fabric gets delivered tomorrow!!!

The Act of Following Through

So my original goal of posting something every day clearly did not happen...I usually have great plans. Really pretty awesome ones. But my follow through...AWFUL. I am an expert at making excuses: stress, being busy, work, but really it's just about being LAZY.

Today I am going to use one of those excuses. Stress. But a very good stress. I have been unable to focus my attention on sharing the positives because we are n the process of buying our first house!!! I cannot believe it! It is super adorable!

When we were looking, I didn't even want to see this house. It happened to be on the same street as a house I very much wanted to see (killer fireplace) so I told the realtor to show it to us. We were scheduled to see the Little Blue House before the Killer Fireplace House and I have to admit, I was kind of annoyed. I REALLY wanted Killer Fireplace House. Rob gave me a tour of the house because I was late and as we went through each room, I fell more and more in love. I equate it to how one must feel when they try on *the* dress. The Little Blue House was *the* house. I saw us living in the house. I saw him and I and D watching movies in the living room. I saw us being a family in this house.

Rob has dealt with all of the negotiations -- if you know me you know I do not negotiate -- I OK people. He was amazing and has scored us an amazing house at an even more amazing price. This house isn't absolutely perfect, it needs work, but it is perfect for us.

A good friend's father told us both a story (separately mind you) about when he and his wife were looking for their home. He told her it didn't matter about the house, all that mattered is the love that would fill it. And they did. His wife is now deceased and this story brought us both on the verge of tears. The amount of love he had and still has for his wife is tremendous. The fact that he sees that in us, is amazing. So that's what we are going to do. We are going to fill this house with out love and make it ours.

For now, this is all I can share of the Little Blue House. In 18 days, hopefully we can officially call it ours and I can share even more of our journey.
